Thank you for your interest in becoming a KYSO Recreational Youth Referee. Our referees are key members of the KYSO team since we provide high quality officiating at all of our youth recreational games.

If you join the KYSO officiating team, you will be trained to officiate games in the recreational soccer league, where we emphasize instruction.
The training course will teach you about the referee’s duties, useful field terminology, and the mechanics of officiating a game (i.e., what to do before, during, and after the game). The full-day course will also explore some of the more complicated aspects of the game. All referees must pass the Recreational Youth Referee (Grade 9) Examination, which is administered at the end of the training course.
At the end of the training day, you can be proud that you have successfully completed this course. You will be ready to begin officiating recreational games for the year to come. As an added bonus, your Grade 9 Youth Recreational Referee certification will also allow you to officiate as an Assistant Referee for competitive travel games up to the level of U-14, should you choose to pursue further officiating opportunities.
